|Energy Optimization Model with Variable Keep-alive cycle Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract : In this paper, to utilize the limited battery more efficiently, the energy harvesting scheme, which can produce energy without additional external power supply and supply power to the sensor by the operation of the pneumatic actuator attached to the industrial robot jig, a variable Keep-Alive periodic scheme to improve the power efficiency of wireless sensor networks has been proposed. In the implementation of the MQTT-SN protocol in a non-IP based wireless sensor network, the energy harvesting using the electromagnetic induction method was adopted to detect the power by the wireless sensor, and the structure of the proposed energy harvester based on the mathematical model was designed and the simulation was conducted to verify the efficiency. In a wireless sensor network environment, a wireless sensor periodically transmits a Keep-Alive signal to a server in order to maintain a connection. Setting a Keep-Alive period to a fixed value in a wireless sensor network, it can reduce power efficiency. Therefore, we propose a variable Keep-Alive periodic scheme to solve the power efficiency problem that occurs when the Keep-Alive period is fixed and showed that it is possible to construct a wireless sensor network based on energy harvesting due to power efficiency improvement by maintaining transmission performance and reducing power consumption.
